Kammath and Kammath| Malayalam Movie | Review | Videos | Posters | Stills | Cast & Crew

The casting for director Thomsun K Thomas' multi-starrer 'Kammath and Kammath' has finally been confirmed, with industry stalwarts Mammootty and Dileep being cast as Kammath brothers.

Director Thomsun, of Karyasthan fame, says, "Jayaram had already allotted his dates for Shaji Kailas' Ginger. We were planning to start shooting only later this year, but since Mammootty and Dileep have a few days to spare now, we would start filming by November 5 in Ernakulam." The film scripted by Siby K Thomas and Udayakrishna will also have Rima Kallingal and Karthika Nair of Ko fame playing the female lead. This would mark Karthika's second Malayalam outing after Makaramanju.
Kunchacko, who is stepping in for Dileep's initially-assigned role, will play an income tax officer, while Mammootty and Dileep would play businessmen who are also philanthropists. Kunchacko is not new to doing supporting acts. He had done a prominent role in the Mammootty-Mohanlal starrer Harikrishnans, and Dileep's comic caper Kalyanaraman, both of which were blockbusters.
For Mammootty, all of whose films in the last two years have been box-office duds, this multi-starrer could be a step in the right direction as Dileep's and Kunchacko's flicks have been consistently doing well and Thomsun's Karyasthan was one of highest grossers last year.
Interestingly, when Mohanlal was going through a similar phase in 2010, it was two back-to-back multi-starrers, China Town and Christian Brothers, which revived his fortunes.
Will Kammath and Kammath be another saving grace? We'll have to wait and watch.
