K Balachander Bags Dada Saheb Phalke Award!

Ace director K Balanchander is conferred with the renowned Dada Saheb Phalke Award for the year 2010 for his extraordinary achievement. Each year, the award is given by the Government of India to veterans in the field who have contributed continuously and worked for the development of the Indian film industry. The award is given away based on the recommendations of a committee of eminent personalities.

K Balachander has earlier been awarded with the Padma Shree Award and also honoured with the Kalaimamani title by the Government of Tamilnadu. Almost all his movies have been received well and attained best reviews, he also won Filmfare awards for the Best Director category many a times.

Balachander has to be purely credited for introducing brilliant actors like Superstar Rajinikanth, Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan, Prakash Raj and many others. He also has to his credit legendary films like Apoorva Ragangal,Achamillai Achamillai, Ek Duje Ke Liye and many more. He also produced Mani Ratnams Roja.
