Shruthi Haasan's foray with Kamal Haasan

With his esteemed Dasavatharam fetching him laurels across far-flung corners of the globe, Universal Hero Kamal Haasan has commenced his remake version of A Wednesday. Titled Thalaivan Irukiran in Tamil, the Telugu version has been named as Ee Nadu. The shooting had hit the floors before couple of days in Hyderabad and would be simultaneously filmed in Telugu and Tamil.

When fathers are treading elatedly launching their heirs into tinsel town on respective panoramas,Kamal Haasan is introducing his daughter Shruthi Haasan with this magnum opus. Dont expect the young lass making her onscreen appearance in lead role. Uh-huh! Shruthi who has been churning out many musical albums makes her debut as music director with Thalaivan Irukiran. Though her part goes inclusive of scoring signature song, she's involved in deep discussions with her crew in spelling the best.

Once Shruthi had represented her dad for collecting Filmfare Awards where she uttered, Hope, One day I would erase my fathers records and bag them on my own records.

Of course, the girl is on for the hotfooted task.

Neetu Chandra turns producer

Looks like actresses are clever entrepreneurs too these days. The latest to prove this is Neetu Chandra, the Yavarum Nalam actress, whose special appearance in Kannitheevu pennaa in Yudham Sei attracted many an eyeball.

Neetu has launched her production house, Champaran Talkies. Her first venture is the Bhojpuri film, Deswa, which is directed by the actresss own brother. The film will hit the screens this May,she says.

I always wanted to bring a change to Bhojpuri cinema and reform the industry by bringing in more sensibility as well as sensitivity. I am planning to take Deswa to all prominent film festivals across the world,she says.

Happy about acting in Aadhi Bhagawan, the Jayam Ravi starrer directed by Ameer, she says, Ameer is a talented a director and I loved working with him. The beauty from Bihar has mastered Tamil and converses only in Tamil with the unit members, we learn.

Superstars in Platinum Jubilee of Kannada Cinema

In a world, where people are divided on various panoramas of Nationalities, languages and more, it's Cinema that calls off everything. Yeah! When sometimes, there's sort of hard feelings are enkindled between these two states, it's both the film industries that make things amicable.

Over for a long time, both the personalities of Kannada and Tamil Film industry have been sharing good rapport. Of course, even our Superstars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have performed so splendidly in many Kannada flicks. As a matter of fact, our versatile filmmakers Balu Mahendra(Kokkila) and Mani Rathnam (Pallavi Anu Pallavi) made their debut directorial in Kannada Film industry.

Now as the Kannada Film Industry celebrates it's Platinum Jubilee, both Superstar Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have confirmed about their presence for this gracious occasion to be held between March 1-3. Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa would be inaugurating the Amrutha Mahotsava from 7pm-11pm.

Sameera swoons on sets

Tension prevailed on the sets of a forthcoming Vishal-film directed by Prabhu Deva, in Chennai on Saturday, after heroine Sameera Reddy suddenly became unconscious due to ill-health.

If reports are to be believed, the actress was suffering from fever for the past few days but still attended the shoot. Unable to manage with her health condition, she fainted all of a sudden.

Sameera was immediately rushed to a private hospital where she was advised by doctors to be on rest for a week. Following this, the shoot of the yet-to-be-titled film has been put on hold.

�Besides attending shootings back to back, she also took part in cultural programmes despite heavy fever. This has resulted in her swooning on sets, sources close to Sameera Reddy reportedly said.

Bhavana making the best

After her much expected film Aasal with Ajith failed to give her a much deserved impetus in Kollywood, the beautiful Bhavana is making the best use of her chances in other languages.

In Malayalam is all set to take the No. 1 position after her back to back block busters in 2010 - Happy Husbands and Marykundoru Kunjaadu. The later which released in December is declared a block buster and has substantially increased her fan base among the lady audiences and children in Kerala.

In Kannada too, her first release Jackie opposite Kannada power star Puneeth Rajakumar went on to become a blockbuster and Bhavana has signed her second Kannada film, opposite the mega star of Kannada, Upendra.

Through Neelakuyil Malayalam cinema for the first time had an authentic Malayalam story. The story for Neelakuyil was penned by renowned Malayalam writer Uroob and directed by the duo of P Bhaskaran and Ramu Karyat. This melodramatic film dealt with the issue of untouchability in the society. Satyan and Miss Kumari were elevated to stardom after the huge success of this film. Malayalam film music till then were cheap imitations of Hindi and Tamil film music, also came up with original Malayalam tunes through this film. The lyrics written by P Bhaskaran were arranged by K Rghavan, influenced by Malayalam folk music, which became popular among the masses. This was also the first Malayalam film to be shot outdoors. Neelakuyil announced the presence of Malayalam cinema in Indian film arena.

Newspaper Boy

Newspaper Boy (1955) was the reflection of neo-realism in cinema, which became popular all over the world. This film was a result of extreme hard work by a group of college students. Newspaper Boy was directed by P Ramadas, who was totally new to cinema and almost all technical works were handled by amateur students. This film was distributed some months before Satyajith Ray's Pather Panchali came out. This film narrated the sad story of a printing press employee and his family reeling through poverty. He dies of extreme poverty and illness, which forces his children to stop their education. His elder son Appu leaves to Madras in search of a job. Failing to secure a job there, he returns and decides to take up the job of a newspaper boy.

Anushka in love with Krish?

A lot is being buzzed after Anushka confessed recently that she is in love and would enter wedlock with the man of her choice in a couple of years. She also said everyone would be in for a surprise when she reveals 'his' name.

If Tollywood sources are to be believed, the man who stole the heart of the 'Stole my heart....' girl is Krish, the director of the multistarrer 'Vaanam', which has Anushka playing an important role.

"The rapport between Anushka and Krish that started during the making of Vaanam's Telugu original Vedam slowly developed into love. Krish was the main reason behind the actress agreeing to be part of the Tamil version," sources say.

However, Krish, like any other celebrity in this part of the world, has denied any affair between him and Anushka. "She is close to me and I would call her amma," the filmmaker reportedly said.
