Isha Sharvani to play Suhra opposite Mammootty in Balyakalasakhi Movie

Bollywood actress Isha Sharvani, who is making her Mollywood debut with Anju Sundarikal opposite Nivin Pauly, seems to have bagged yet another project in Malayalam.

Buzz is that director Pramod Payyanur's directorial debut, Balyakalasakhi, will see the actress in a prominent role. The movie, which is an adaptation of Vaikom Muhammed Basheer's short story by the same title, stars Mammootty in the lead.

The story, which is an autobiography, revolves around Majeed and Suhra, who are in love with each other from childhood. While Mammootty plays Majeed, hunt was on for someone to play Suhra. Now we hear that Isha Sharvani might play Suhra's role. "We spoke to her and she seemed interested in taking up the role," says Pramod.

When we contacted Isha, she said that she is excited to share screenspace with the superstar. "I had spoken to them more than eight months back. It will be an honour to work with an actor like Mammootty. However, nothing has been confirmed yet," she says.

Meanwhile, the makers are conducting auditions across Kerala and even abroad to select various characters for the project. "As many as 35 artistes will be selected through the auditions and they will undergo a 15-day camp in March," says Pramod.

Another highlight of the movie is the presence of musical legends such as K Raghavan, Kavalam Narayana Panickkar, Sreekumaran Thampy and Devarajan, who will be penning the lyrics for the same.

However, after getting rewards and accolades, Mammootty is planning to try hard for acting brilliantly to fulfill dreams of Basheer whose story will be materialized to shoot the upcoming movie entitled Balyakalasakhi.

Fahad Fazil - A hot property

The major change that 2012 brought out to Mollywood was the emergence of a promising and popular actor in Fahad Fazil. Many are indeed surprised to remember that the disastrous Kaiyethum Doorathu, that came out a decade ago was his debut film. The year had him in three big hits like 22 F K, Diamond Necklace and Friday which all did help him leap up in the charts of popularity Now considered as the best natural actor ever to happen after the arrival of Mohanlal three decades ago, Fahad has also started off well in 2013.
His movie with director Rajeev Ravi Annayum Rasoolum is doing good business at the release centers. The movie has him as a cabdriver who falls Madly in love with a girl named Anna. Fahad will have plenty of releases coming up in the coming months. Lijo Jose Pelliserry’s Amen will have him play a rector. The comedy movie will be released by the end of this month. Following in February is V K Prakash’s Netholi Cheriya Meenalla, Fahad is currently in the sets of Red Wine with Mohanlal and Asif Ali.
He will join Mammootty soon, playing a villain named Jeevan for his Laljose flick Immanuel by next weeks. He do not bother much about people branding me as a metro youth. The young actor who is hot property at the moment, after having delivered one hit after the other at the box office. As far my movies have audience, its best not to waste time responding to such issues. We do know that the actor’s films have an audience and an appreciable one at that. Fahad who was last seen in Lijin Jose’s Friday, is now busy shooting for his new film with Andrea Jeremiah that has been titled Annayum Rasoolum. The film also marks the directorial debut of ace cinematographer Rajeev Ravi.

PULIYANKAM - Dileep, Renjith’s New Malayalam Movie

Renjith’s Next Movie ‘Puliyankam’ will start this year. Dileep doing the lead role. Renjith – Dileep’s last movie ‘Mizhi Randilum’ that released several years back. This film Renjith is doing both the thirakatha and direction. Will probably be an action movie.

SOUND THOMA | Malayalam Movie | Review | Videos | Posters | Stills | Cast & Crew

Director Vysakh’s Sound Thoma, starring Dileep in the lead, speaks about a guy who draws strength from his speech impairment.
It’s a blitz of orange on the set of Vysakh’s new flick Sound Thoma, the shooting of which is progressing inside an old godown at Aroor, Alappuzha district. Everywhere you look there’s orange – an ‘orchard’ of orange, walls painted in bright orange, a huge cut-out of a slice of orange….
In the midst of it all are actors Dileep and Namitha Pramod, who play the leads in the film. In contrast to all the orange, the two are dressed in black and white. They are jiving to a peppy tune along with a bunch of back-up dancers. Dileep sports a different look in the film with a cleft lip and a curved nose.
“This film narrates the story of a wealthy but miserly money-lender named Plapparambil Paulo (Sai Kumar) and his son Thoma (Dileep). Thoma has a speech problem because of his cleft lip. However, Thoma doesn’t think it’s an impairment and herein lies the central theme of the film – what is the perfect sound? The story is a philosophical take on society’s perception towards people with impairments,” says Vysakh, the director of Pokkiri RajaSeniors and Mallu Singh, all of which raked in the moolah at the box office.
Moving away from the wheat fields of Punjab where Vysakh had filmed his previous movie Mallu Singh, the director has set Thoma's story in a village in Kuttanad. Thoma was born with the impairment but it has never affected his confidence. He has for long nursed a crush on Sreelakshmi, a radio jockey (Namitha), the daughter of a classical musician.
Thoma is not that well- educated but is pleasant and funny and has a positive outlook. Mathai (Mukesh) and Joykutty (Shiju) are his brothers. Dileep seems excited about playing another “different role”.
“In KunjikkoonanChanthupottuMayamohini and so on I experimented with body language and complete makeovers. Here my experiments are limited to the face and my voice, which actually requires a lot of effort on my part. Thoma is a virtuous guy, who is not a bit concerned about his handicap and even dreams of becoming an RJ. In fact, I am singing a song for the film as well,” says Dileep.
Namitha Pramod, who debuted as a heroine in last year’s Puthiya Theerangal, is adding more curls to her hair during the break for the next shot. “I have studied dance but have not been practising it for a while now. So I have to work hard to perfect the steps,” she smiles. Namitha feels that Sreelakshmi is quite different from Thaamara in Puthiya Theerangal.
Sound Thoma is being produced under the banner of Priyanjali by Anoop. Scenarist is Benny P. Nayarambalam and cinematographer is Shaji. Gopi Sundar is the music director. Stills are by Abhilash Narayanan.

Ladies and Gentleman | Malayalam Movie | Review | Videos | Posters | Stills | Cast & Crew

Inside a plush bungalow at Kakkanad, Kochi, writer-director Siddique is shooting his latest film, Ladies and Gentleman, with Mohanlal in the lead. Two decades after they made the hit film Vietnam Colony, the two are teaming up again in this film.
Ladies and Gentleman is essentially about the generation gap. Often, the older generation is set in their ways while the new generation is eager to believe that they are always right. Young achievers of today are mostly self-made and have a different attitude to life,” says Siddique.
Mohanlal enacts Chandrabose, a mysterious character who comes to Kochi. Chandrabose likes to keep a low profile and lives a rather carefree life. When he meets Sarath, the laidback Chandrabose finds that he has some important lessons on life to teach the youngster. Krish J. Sathar, son of actors Sathar and Jayabharathi, makes his entry into movies as Sarath. It is through the youngster that Chandrabose meets four women – Jyothi (Padmapriya), Anu (Mamta Mohandas), Achu (Meera Jasmine) and Chinnu (Mithra Kurien).
“Chandrabose is a positive influence on the four women. In the scene being shot, he has come to this house built by siblings Sarath and Jyothi. Sarath is a techie, while Jyothi is an air hostess,” explains Siddique.
Mohanlal completes his scenes without a glitch and leaves the location after a while. Next to be canned is the interaction between Sarath and Jyothi. Director Siddique seems impressed by Krish’s performance. He says that he had seen Krish’s photo a while ago and it was “his face that came to mind while he was searching for the right face for this character. He is talented.”
Krish, meanwhile, is gung ho about his debut. He says: “I am aware about the expectations that I will have to live up to. It’s definitely an advantage being born into a filmy family, but it comes with lots of pressure as well. So, hopefully, viewers will judge me just like any other newcomer, at least for the time being.” He can’t stop talking about growing up with his mother. “She would check my school diary before committing her dates for a new film. She wanted me to complete my education and I am an engineer with a master’s degree in management as well. I worked for a while and when this offer came, she was all for it,” says the actor.
Ladies and Gentleman is being produced under the banner of Ashirwad Cinema and will hit the screens during Vishu. Cinematographer is Satheesh Kurup. Lyrics by Rafeeq Ahmad have been composed by Ratheesh Vegha. Still photographer is Shajil Obscura.

Natholi Oru Cheriya Meenalla | Malayalam Movie | Review | Videos | Posters | Stills | Cast & Crew

Filmmaker V.K. Prakash’s Natholi Oru Cheriya Meenalla, which is based on a conflict between a writer and his character, has Fahadh Faasil playing two characters.
All eyes are on Kamalini Mukherji, who is busy cooking in a kitchen on the fifteenth floor of a river-facing apartment at Aluva. It is the location of director V.K. Prakash’s (VKP) curiously titled film Natholi Oru Cheriya Meenalla. The scene to be shot needs the actor to move out of the frame after being startled by a loud shriek. The director has assigned three youngsters to shriek for that purpose. However, when they finally go for a take, the timing of the cry goes wrong and every one, including the director, is in splits.
“We’ll go for a retake,” he smiles. The shot is canned in the second take.
The director takes a pause from the shoot to talk about the movie. Says VKP: “Natholi…is a mad, wacky film based on the conflict between a writer and the character that he has created. The character goes out of the writer’s control and the interaction that follows takes the story ahead. The title suggests that we can go wrong when we underestimate certain people. It is a triangular love story.”
Fahadh Faasil plays two roles in the film. He enacts Prem, a caretaker of the apartment complex, and Narendran, one of the residents there. Prabha (Kamalini Mukherji) is staying in the same complex. She organises adventure sports and tours for a living. The montage cuts that will be part of a song in the movie are being shot next. The shot has Fahadh, who is on the phone, welcoming Kamalini to a neatly arranged table where two glasses of fruit juice and snacks are present. A camera follows her while the second camera captures the action from another angle.
Fahadh, who is all excited about his forthcoming films such as Annayum Rasoolum and Amen, feels “this could be the craziest film I have done so far and I am loving it.” How interesting is it to play two characters in the same film? “They are actually extremes in terms of character. While one is a ‘metro representation’, the other is an underdog,” says Fahadh.
Kamalini is also enthused about her role in the film. The actor says: “After my role in Kutty Srank, which saw me playing a Malayali girl from an orthodox Christian background, I was waiting for another good role. In Natholi…, I play a ‘today’s girl’. She is aggressive in nature and has a certain duality to her personality.”
Natholi Oru Cheriya Meenalla is being produced by Good Company and Angel Works. Shankar Ramakrishnan is the scenarist. Cinematographer is Arun James and music director is Abhijit. The cast includes Sathar, Mukundan and Kani.
